Europa Cup 2025 – Group B
⚽ Dunfanaghy Youths U12s 4 – 1 Letterbarrow Celtic Youths ⚽
Dunfanaghy Youths sealed top spot in Group B, and a place in the semi-final, with a superb 4–1 win over a determined Letterbarrow side on Tuesday evening in Dunfanaghy.
The home team started strongly, with Matthew McFadden opening the scoring in the 16th minute after a clever pass from Cian Langan. Shortly after, some excellent play in midfield between Oliver McGinty and Odhran Sweeney set up Odhran to unleash a stunning strike from outside the box that flew into the top corner!
Dunfanaghy pushed hard for a third before half-time. Cian went closest when his free kick rattled the inside of the post, but Letterbarrow’s defence stood firm, with goalkeeper Adam Brady making some outstanding saves. The visitors always looked dangerous on the counter, but it remained 2–0 at the break.
Into the second half, Dunfanaghy struck again in the 36th minute when Cian finished off a slick move down the right involving Anthony Wilkinson and Matthew. Letterbarrow kept themselves in the contest, pulling a goal back in the 45th minute through a well-taken free kick by Dillan Curley. Dunfanaghy defence expertly led by Clara Ward Duffy defended well, with Dylan Robinson also alert and secure in goals.
The hosts sealed the win late on when Matthew grabbed his second of the game, coolly finishing from a Riley Sweeney through ball in the 57th minute.
👏 Credit to Letterbarrow for a sporting and competitive match.
