Dunfanaghy Youths Girls U12s, along with members from Glenree FC, recently came together at The Hub in Creeslough for a special Wellbeing Day, celebrating the importance of health, fitness, and mental wellbeing.
The event kicked off with an engaging session led by Stephen Doak, who facilitated icebreakers and games to help everyone feel comfortable and energized for the day ahead. His activities set a positive tone and encouraged team bonding among the young players.
Following this, Trevor Scanlan and coaches from the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) provided valuable insights into key areas of player development. They delivered informative talks on nutrition, strength and conditioning, and recovery, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle both on and off the pitch.
To round off the day, the group visited the Astroturf at the Wild Atlantic Camp for a friendly game of football and a thrilling penalty shootout. The competition was intense, going right down to the wire. Emily Black emerged as the well-deserved winner, with Aibhlin Gallagher securing a close second place.
The Wellbeing Day was a fantastic experience for all involved, fostering teamwork, learning, and enjoyment. A big thank you to all the Marie, Donald. Agnes, Anne and Emma and players who made the event a success.
