It was brilliant to welcome Kilmacrennan Lurgy to Callum Friel Park on Monday evening, with a welcome break in the weather providing perfect conditions for football π€οΈ
The game started evenly, with both teams showing great energy and skill. Kilmacrennan began to edge the early exchanges and made their pressure count on 16 minutes, when Ellie May Russell found the net with a fine strike to put the visitors 1β0 ahead.
Dunfanaghy responded well, and despite continued pressure, the defence stood strong to keep the score at 1β0 going into halftime πͺ
The second half saw both teams come out with real intent. Dunfanaghy grew into the game and, on 35 minutes, Leah Hanlon reacted quickest in the box to slot home the equaliser β½
Buoyed by the goal, Dunfanaghy pushed on and were rewarded again on 51 minutes, when Caoimh Langan finished confidently from the edge of the box to make it 2β1 π₯
The game continued to flow from end to end, with Kilmacrennan creating chances of their own, but Dunfanaghy held firm to see out a well-earned 2β1 victory.
