*U12 Div 1 Cup Final                                           Lagan Harps 1- Dunfanaghy Youths 3*

Dunfanaghy Youths secured their second cup when they went to Lagan and defeated them 3-1 on Sunday.

It's been a brilliant season for this group of players winning their second cup, finishing second in the league, and only being defeated once in 20 matches all year.

Lagan started the match strong, and Dunfanaghy was made to defend well in the first 10 minutes. Oisin Sweeney and Oisin Nelis put in some great blocks and were well supported by Caolan and Anthony. Rory was very composed in goals. After this, Dunfanaghy began to dominate in midfield through Seve and Oliver and created some good chances for Cian and Matthew. Liam came on and made an immediate impact when he beat his marker before slamming the ball into the bottom corner. This gave Dunfanaghy a deserved 1-0 half time lead.

Lagan scored a fortuitous goal when a corner deflected off a Dunfanaghy defender and went into the goal shortly after half time. This spurred on Dunfanaghy. Odhran put in a huge effort in midfield and won tackle after tackle. Matthew twice, and Oisin Sweeney once, went close to scoring. The relentless pressure by Dunfanaghy paid off in the 57th minute, when Dylan expertly controlled the ball in the box and laid it off to Matthew. Matthew kept his cool to finish from close range to put Dunfanaghy 2-1 up.

Dunfanaghy defended well with Alfie putting in some great tackles in midfield. From a Lagan corner that was well defended by Dunfanaghy again, Seve set off on one of his trademark runs to finish into the net and clinch the final 3-1. This sparked huge celebrations anongst the large support that Dunfanaghy brought with them.

The final was off a very high standard and was keenly contested between two excellent teams. Hard luck to Lagan, who have had a very good season themselves.

The Dunfanaghy Youths Panel was:

Rory Boyce, Oisin Nelis, Oisin Sweeney (Capt), Caolan Sweeney, Oliver McGinty, Seve Roarty, Anthony Wilkinson, Matthew McFadden, Cian Langan, Odhran Sweeney, Alfie Roarty, Dylan Robinson, Liam McFadden, Riley Sweeney, Hugh McNulty, and Dinnie Sheridan.
