Glen Rovers 1 Dunfanaghy Youths 2*
Dunfanaghy Youths maintained their impressive form with a hard-earned victory in the Cup at Glen Rovers.
Dunfanaghy started the quicker. A fine pass by Matthew was well controlled by Cian. Cian turned the defender and slotted the ball past the keeper to put Dunfanaghy 1 up in the first 5 minutes.
Glen grabbed an equaliser midway through the half. Dunfanaghy finished the half the stronger and thought they had won a penalty when Cian was tripped. It was deemed to be on the edge of the box. Cian drew a brilliant save from the resulting free kick. 1-1 is how the first half finished.
Dunfanaghy upped the intensity at the start of the second half and went close a number of times. Matthew showed brilliant close control, with his shot shaving the outside of the post being the closest they came to scoring.
In the 53rd minute, a through ball by Seve was seized on by Cian. He burst through the middle and was taken down in the box. He dusted himself down and smashed home the penalty to put Dunfanaghy 2-1 up and through to the semi- final.
Oisin Sweeney put in a player of the match performance and was well supported by Cian, Seve, and Rory.
