Dunfanaghy, despite dominating the match and hitting the frame of the goals on 4 occasions, had to settle for a draw in Bonagee on Sunday morning.
Dunfanaghy started the game on the front foot. After going close on several occasions, a good run and pass by Cian Langan was finished into the corner of the net by Matthew McFadden in the 8th minute.
Dunfanaghy continued to pile on the pressure, and a through ball by Oisin Sweeney was latched onto by Cian, who finished into the bottom corner to put Dunfanaghy 2-0 up in the 14th minute. Dunfanaghy went close time and again but were denied twice by the frame of the goal and by some good goalkeeping.
From a break away, Bonagee reduced the deficit to 2-1. A long ball over the top was finished by Bonagee to bring the sides level at 2-2 in the 23rd minute.
Dunfanaghy continued to bring the game to the opposition for the entire second half, but a combination of good goalkeeping, the frame of the goals on 2 more occasions, meant they had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
This was one of our most complete performances of the year, but where luck deserted us. It was a real team effort with Oliver McFadden, the player of the match.
The panel was: Rory Boyce, Odhran Sweeney, Oisin Sweeney (Captain), Caolan Sweeney, Oliver McFadden, Oisin Nelis, Anthony Wilkinson, Matthew McFadden, Cian Langan, Liam McFadden and Dylan Robinson.
Our next match is a local derby at Home to Glenea. Date to be confirmed, but it is potentially on Thursday 20th June at 7pm.
