Our U12s played Glen Rovers in the Aura, Letterkenny, on Thursday evening.
The Youths started the game on the front foot. We created several good chances in the first half. Cian Langan on 3 occasions, and Anthony Wilkinson, Matthew McFadden, and Seve Roarty were all denied by some brilliant goalkeeping by the Glen Rovers netminder. Somehow, it remained 0-0 at half time.
The second half started in a similar fashion with Cian, Dylan Robinson, and Oisin Sweeney, all going close to scoring. It looked like it wasn't going to be our day when a long clearance ended up being scrambled into our net.
Despite this setback, the lads kept going. The Youths looked like they had a stonewall penalty for a handball, but the referee waved away these claims. The lads showed real heart and spirit and got their equaliser with 5 minutes remaining. Cian hit a swerving corner with the outside of his right boot that finally found its way past the goalkeeper.
A very strong team performance including massive contributions from the subs, with Seve and Cian particularly outstanding.
Our next match is at HOME to Keadue Rovers this Tuesday, 21st @ 7.30pm.
