Dunfanaghy Youths club Ethos & Code's of Conduct

Please carefully read our club ethos and code of conduct documents outlined below. All club members, players, coaches, club volunteers and spectators are asked to agree to abide by the clubs codes of conduct. We ask that parents/guardians read through these documents with your children.

DYFC – Ethos

The work of Dunfanaghy Youths FC is based on the following principles that will guide the development of football in this club. Children and young people’s experience of football should be directed by what is best for the child. The stages of development and the ability of the child

should guide the types of activity provided in the club. Adults require a basic understanding of the needs of young people, including physical, emotional and personal.

Integrity in Relationships:

Integrity, respect and kindness are the cornerstone of everything we do. By demonstrating role model behaviour in all our actions in football we keep the young people we are helping at the

centre of all our decisions. We know we are not perfect, so we are are honest and compassionate with ourselves and others on how we can improve.

Quality Atmosphere and Ethos

The committee, managers, coaches and volunteers will lead by example to create a positive environment that benefits the club, its members and the community. By creating a safe and positive environment children will be able to express themselves through all age levels whenever they represent the club.

Equality

All people should be treated in a fair and equitable manner. Therefore, we cannot discriminate. We will make all reasonable adjustments to ensure children with additional needs can be involved in sports in an integrated way. All children regardless of ability will have the opportunity

to grow and develop.

Fair Play

Fair play is a way of thinking, not just behaving. It incorporates concepts of friendship, respect for others and always playing in the right spirit.

Dunfanaghy Youths FC will always put the emphasis on ‘play’ to give our players a healthy perspective on why we compete. By respecting our competitors, officials and the rules of the game it will help us to be better players and people.

Competition

A balanced approach to competition can make a significant contribution to the development of young people, while at the same time providing fun, enjoyment and satisfaction. Coaches/managers should aim to put the welfare of the child first and competitive standards second. A child-centred approach will be followed.

Coaches and parents need to know and understand the needs of all players.

DYFC – Players Code of Conduct

Our club thrives when you thrive. You have a responsibility to train at your best, play at

your best and make sure you and everyone has a good time on and off the pitch.

As a player, I will:

Always train and play my best for the benefit of the team.
Play fairly and be friendly.
Play by the rules and respect the referee.
Shake hands with the other team – win or lose.
Listen carefully to what my coach tells me.
Never be afraid to ask for help.
Encourage my teammates.

I understand that if I do not follow the code, I may:

Be asked to apologise to whoever I’ve upset.
Receive a warning.
Be dropped, substituted, or suspended from training.

DYFC – Coaches Code of Conduct

Our Managers and coaches are critical to giving children and young people a great experience of football. Their attitude to the game directly informs the attitude of the players under their supervision.

When working with players, I will:

Place the well-being, safety and enjoyment of each player above everything.
Never tolerate bullying, discrimination or violent behaviour.
Ensure all activities are suited to the players’ ability and age.
Work with others (e.g. The committee, welfare officers, officials) for each players’ best interests.
Promote a positive approach to the game (e.g. fair play, honest endeavour and teamwork).

On and off the field I will:

Always show respect to everyone involved in the game.
Stick to the rules and celebrate the spirit of the game.
Encourage fair play and high standards of behaviour.
Always respect the referee and encourage the players to do the same.
Never engage in, or tolerate offensive, insulting or abusive behaviour.
Be aware of the potential impact of bad language on others.
Be gracious in victory and defeat.
Understand the laws of the game and the rules of any competition my team(s) participate in.
