We have had great support this year, but as with any volunteer run club, help is always needed. So whether it's coaching, fundraising, social media, admin ....whatever your skills, we would have a use for them! Please get in touch. if you have a few mins spare, please read the Chairperson's report for 2024 that covers all our activity:
It’s been a very busy year at Dunfanaghy Youths Football Club as we embarked on our 1st full year at Callum Friel Park. There have been many achievements on and off the pitch that simply would not be possible without the support, hard work and commitment of the whole community. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the players, parents, sponsors, groundsmen, clubs, development committee and wider community for all their help this year.
I extend my personal gratitude to the Committee and the coaches for the care and commitment they have shown to the club throughout the year to ensure the children can enjoy their football in such a safe nurturing environment .
I would like to place on record my thanks to Anne-Marie Ward who will step away from the committee this year after many years of service. She has been an unwavering support to the club and we will always be grateful for her contribution

Off the field
- A significant amount of work took place in the 1st half of the year to update and enhance the club’s governance. This included work to the club’s constitution, code’s of conduct for players and coaches and improving a number of club policies. This work was pivotal in enabling the club to apply for, and be successful in achieving FAI entry level ‘Club Mark Award’. The award recognises that the club has robust processes and operating procedures. This work was so well done that the club is able to apply straight away for the next level club mark award.
- A huge success this year was having all positions on the committee filled. There have been 11 meetings (incl AGM) held during the year, all with at least 75% attendance. This is a significant achievement given the busy lives everyone leads and it is really appreciated. All meetings were excellently minuted and actions taken and delivered.
- The club successfully started the process of integrating Clubzap to assist with the operational running of the club. Clubzap will be the one-stop shop for organising club activities – Scheduling fixtures and training, parental communication, memeberships and much more. 2025 will see the club move away from Whatsapp groups for organising and give parents a more efficient way of seeing their childrens football schedule
- A massive thank-you for all the fundraising done throughout the year. The club simply cannot run without the fundraising efforts. Amongst the fundraising activities we held were: Muckish Wellness walk, Darkness into light, 5k Run/walk, 50/50, Golf Classic, Masters and Euro’s clubzap comps, Fantasy Football, Calender sales and card school. Again, thank-you
On the Field
- It was another huge year on the pitch with enjoyment and a great standard of football played across all age groups. DYFC had 11 teams representing girls and boys from 6 – 16 years old, catering for all abilities
- April saw the launch of Football for All – Run over 3 blocks of 15 weeks we have been able to give football opportunities to players with a disability in in the local community – and beyond. We had up 26 players, facilitated by up to 16 coaches. A special thank-you goes to our younger helpers, Anna and Megan who showed a remarkable connection with the children and whose help was crucial in making it a success
- In another 1st for the club, our U12 and U14 girls saw their 1st taste of league football in the Donegal womens league. Both had successful seasons.
- We were represented in the Donegal Underage League with two U12 boys teams, U14s and U16s
Trophies were won at U12 and U16. The U14 were unfortunate to find themselves placed in a very competitive premier division. To the credit of all the players and coaches they showed exceptional resilience and improved with every game they played.
- The under 6’s were another new team successfully launched this year, all teams not involved in league football had several ‘blitzes’ organised, giving the children the opportunity for match practice against other teams. This is no easy undertaking to organise as it is solely on the coaches to organise.
- We held another brilliant schools day, with all local schools invited and attended.
- All of this activity has amounted to the standard of coaching and style of play improving and most importantly the children getting more enjoyment from their football which is what it is all about. Evidence of this can be seen by training numbers and participation increasing and continuing well into the winter months. We also have over 30 players representing development teams e.g. County squads and Finn Harps, as well as playing in the Foyle cup.
Again, DYFC cannot thank you all enough for what has been an exceptional 2024. We look forward to your ongoing support in 2025.
